"Great shot! I love how you wrap the LEDS around your Airblowns and throughout the display! Awesome!"
Thanks!
Hanging LED strings on them really changes the look, and it's one of my favorite things to do. This year I had one or two strands on almost every airblown, and the 12' globebelly snowman in the foreground here had 5 strands for a total of about 290 lights. Not only do the LEDs have great color, but they don't get hot or burn out if you stuff them between fabric folds in the globes. My blue Carousel had 3 strands of blue LEDs draped behind the top, so the whole thing glowed blue.
That blue carousel got vandal slashed right across the clear front panel, so I may experiment with some Airblown-Andy-style mods rather than toss it. The ides is to put zippers on either side of the replacement window pane so I can climb inside easilly, and then start permantently sewing LED strings and spotlights inside. I found instructions for building cheap waterproof LED spotlights at www.crazylightlady.us which might be mega cool for putting -inside- an airblown! For example, shining a spotlight inside a snowglobe to highlight the snow! If you look close on the carousel photo (taken pre-slash) you'll see little blue highlights behind the characters. That was done by hanging a blue-LED light net on the back of the globe. The next step is to try permanently sewing things like that on the inside. (LEDs last up to 50,000 depending on the brand, so sewing them in place is less crazy than using normal lights that might burn out in one or two seasons.)
